Tax Ombudsmen Who Work Actively to Protect the Rights of Tax Payers

In order to provide the necessary assistance for tax payers, the Local Tax Bureau of the Taichung City Government appointed nine tax ombudsmen with professional legal, accounting and taxation backgrounds (hereinafter referred to "the Tax Ombudsmen"). Being independent, the Tax Ombudsmen assist tax payers to find evidence or conduct the necessary investigation to protect their rights.
According to the Bureau, a case was filed about borrowing of vehicle license A to another car and that was fined in compliance with Article 31 of the Vehicle License Tax Act. Additionally, the case was involved in a criminal case of burglary. But the registered vehicle owner had never lent the vehicle license A to anyone and was suspicious of an alteration. Thus, the owner asked for the assistance of the Tax Ombudsmen. After knowing the case, the Tax Ombudsmen worked hard with the Taichung Motor Vehicles Office, Directorate General of Highways, the MOTC, the Taichung City Traffic Adjudication Office and license plate makers to finally prove that the vehicle license A was altered. The punishment was then cancelled. The owner especially thanked for the active assistance of the Tax Ombudsmen.
The Bureau would like to remind tax payers that for any tax payment disputes, they should ask for assistance from the Tax Ombudsmen. For any questions related to tax affairs, please call the toll free telephone number at 0800-000321 or 04-22585000 and press 1 for customer services. Callers will then be served by the designated personnel.
