Nowadays, most people have a mobile device. Both public and private sectors are focusing on e-services. Online inquiries, applications, and shopping have become everyday activities for the middle-aged and younger generations. However, engaging in these activities can be quite overwhelming for some older adults!
The Local Tax Bureau of the Taichung City Government noted that they received a call from an older adult surnamed Wang, who was concerned about the authenticity of the Direct Tax Refund Assistance Notification and Agreement Form he received. After patiently explaining and verifying the information, the employee managed to ease Mr. Wang's concerns. Mr. Wang, who lives alone and has mobility issues, doesn’t have a fax machine at home, making it impossible for him to respond to the notification via mail or fax. Additionally, although he wished to apply for a long-term direct tax refund arrangement, the application could not be done over the phone, and the only option was to use the Tax Bureau's online refund response platform. Therefore, the employee guided Mr. Wang through each step until he joyfully exclaimed over the phone, “I see the success screen!” A few days later, Mr. Wang received a Direct Tax Refund Notification from the Tax Bureau, confirming that the refund had been successfully deposited to his account. He called the bureau again to express his gratitude and happily said that he could now boast about it to his children and grandchildren.
The Tax Bureau noted that before processing tax refunds twice a week, they first send out the Direct Tax Refund Assistance Notification and Agreement Form. Individuals wishing to have their tax refunds directly deposited into their bank accounts can fill out their bank account details on the form and return it via mail or fax without needing postage. Alternatively, they can scan the QR code attached to the agreement form and fill it out online, which is a fast and convenient option. For any inquiries regarding the direct tax refund process, welcome to call the service hotline at (04) 2258-5000, press 1 for the A++ Station, or use the toll-free number 0800-000-321, where dedicated personnel will be available to help.
