Taxpayers who sold a house in the prior year can apply for the Certificate of Approved Value of the Deed from local tax authorities for reporting income from property transactions

(Taichung News) The Local Tax Bureau, Taichung City Government noted that during the yearly filing period for individual income tax in May, they frequently receive requests from citizens regarding the assessed value of the property they sold the previous year for the purpose of reporting income from property transactions. However, due to confidentiality regulations concerning tax data, those not obligated to pay taxes cannot access the information about the property's assessed current value after the sale of a property. Moreover, considering the effects of annual depreciation or renovations, this year's assessed value of the property may vary from its value at the time of sale.
The bureau added that for individual income tax filing, former property owners can apply online for the “Certificate of Approved Value of the Deed” through the service desks or websites of tax authorities across the country. It's important to note that if you've sold a house, remember to retain the “Contract for the Transfer of Ownership of Constructional Improvements” and the “Notice of Deed Tax Payment” as proof for reporting income from property transactions.
If you have any further tax queries, feel free to call the toll-free service hotline provided by the bureau for public welfare concerns at 0800-000321 or 04-22585000 ext. 1 to connect to the A++ Station, where dedicated personnel will be available to help.
