Hotels That Have Been Affected by the Outbreak and Resulting in the Disuse of Several Floors May Apply to Change the Current Use in Order to Reduce House Tax

(Taichung news) In light of the severe impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on tourist consumption and the travel market, Taichung City Local Tax Bureau (LTB) stated that hotels that have been affected by the outbreak and resulting in the disuse of several floors may apply to change the current use in order to reduce house tax.
The LTB explained that hotels and houses used for accommodation purposes in Taichung City must pay a business use house tax of 3%. If the disused floors are confirmed to be true, the proprietor may apply to change each floor to non-residential and non-business use house tax rate (2%) during the period of disuse.
The LTB elaborated that in order to minimize the public's risk during the outbreak, taxpayers may make the application online through the bureau's website (https://www.tax.taichung.gov.tw), mobile app (Taichung Digital Tax App ) or the local tax online filing website (https//net.tax.nat.gov.tw) to ensure peace of mind by staying at home.
For more information, please call the bureau's toll-free number 0800-000321 or 22585000#1 for the telephone customer service center, and our staff will be glad to assist you. LTB cares about you!
