Tax Arrears of NT$20,000 or Less Can be Paid at Convenience Store by Presenting Payment Notice Printed with Barcode

(Taichung News) According to the Local Tax Bureau, Taichung City Government, after failing to pay taxes in time and having been charged for compulsory execution, if the taxpayers receive a payment notice printed with barcode from the Administrative Enforcement Branch Agency of the Ministry of Justice (amount of less than NT$20,000), they may make payment at any of the four major convenience store chains within the deadline (7-Eleven, FamilyMart, Hi-Life, or OK Mart). The process is fast, convenient, and free of charge.

The bureau elaborated that if the payment notice has expired or if the amount due is more than NT$20,000, please approach the Administrative Enforcement Branch Agency or taxing authority to issue a tax bill before making payment at a financial institution. Alternatively, they can purchase postal money orders at the post office, make sure to fill in the referring authority stated on the payment notice as the payee, and mail the postal order with the payment notice to the referring authority via registered mail in order to pay the taxes.

The bureau reminds the public that upon receiving the payment notice, please verify if the tax stated on the document has been paid. Do not simply ignore the notice in order to protect your rights. If you have any question, please contact the bureau’s toll-free number 0800-000321 or 04-22585000#1 for the telephone customer service center, and our staff will be glad to assist you.
