Local Tax Bureau of Taichung City Government provides multiple ways for persons with disabilities to apply for exemption from license plate tax and welcome the public to make use of them.

Local Tax Bureau has worked with district offices, the Social Affairs Bureau and motor vehicles offices to provide this personalized service. As a first-time applicant of a tax-exempt license plate for his/her own car, a person with disabilities can fill in both the application forms for the proof of disability and exemption from license plate tax at the same time at a district office. The Social Affairs Bureau will verify and issue the proof of disability and then notify the Local Tax Bureau of all the relevant data. A person with disabilities who has the proof of disability and has just bought a car can apply for a new license plate and its tax exemption at the motor vehicles office, which will be responsible for immediately faxing the relevant data to the Local Tax Bureau to apply for tax exemption, so that the person with disabilities does need to pay tax first and then apply for refund.
