To ensure the accuracy of land tax registration accounts and maintain a fair taxation system, the Local Tax Bureau of Taichung City Government has been undergoing a comprehensive check on all the land tax registration accounts in the fiscal year 2015.

The inventory in 2015 will focus on checking the tax applicability of tax-free land, self-use residential land, industrial land, and agricultural land. If it still complies with the preferential tax rate, exemption or reduction of land tax will continue to apply on it; otherwise, a basic land tax rate will be imposed and difference in tax payment should be paid, said the Local Tax Bureau.

People are advised to review if any of their land lots currently applicable to preferential tax rates or tax exemption or tax reduction have changed in status and loses the eligibility for preferential tax rates, tax exemption or tax reduction. If it is found to be the case, the taxpayer must apply to the branch office of Local Tax Bureau for restoring the levy of a basic land tax rate within thirty (30) days after loss of such eligibility. Otherwise, he or she may be punished by fines, if found to violate the concerned tax law.
