Tax arrears will be referred to the Administrative Enforcement Branch Agency for compulsory execution

(Taichung News) According to the Local Tax Bureau, Taichung City Government, upon receiving the tax bill from the Local Tax Bureau, taxpayers should pay their taxes before the deadline. If the tax is not paid within 30 days after the deadline, the taxpayers will be liable for overdue fines and face compulsory execution after their tax arrears are referred to the Administrative Enforcement Branch Agency, Ministry of Justice by the taxing authority.

Local Tax Bureau explained that when taxpayers fail to pay their taxes and are referred to Administrative Enforcement Branch Agency for compulsory execution, the agency will first deliver a payment notice notifying the taxpayer; if the taxpayer fails to make payment, the Administrative Enforcement Branch Agency will carry out a series of compulsory execution actions in accordance with the condition of the arrears such as seizure of bank account or salary, foreclosure of the taxpayer’s movables and immovable property. Furthermore, if the taxpayer is found to be capable of paying taxes but is avoiding doing so intentionally, other compulsory execution approaches will be implemented, including banning the taxpayer from leaving the country or arrested and taking them into custody.

Local Tax Bureau reminded taxpayers to pay their taxes in time after receiving the tax bill, so as to avoid the overdue fine and referral for compulsory execution. If you have any questions concerning the execution of tax arrears, please contact the bureau’s toll-free number 0800-000321 or 04-22585000#1 for the telephone customer service center, and our staff will be glad to assist you.
