Do not ignore the post office’s tax bill delivery notice

(Taichung) Taxpayers are reminded that it is imperative to go to the post office to collect their tax bill after receiving the tax bill delivery notice and pay their taxes before the deadline in order to prevent tax arrears and compulsory execution by the Administrative Enforcement Branch Agency, Ministry of Justice.
According to Local Tax Bureau, Taichung City Government, there have been numerous incidences where the public claims to have not received the tax bill after receiving the payment notice from Administrative Enforcement Branch Agency, Ministry of Justice and request to pay the original tax without overdue charge. As a matter of fact, when the tax bill is delivered by the postman but the recipient is not home, it will be deposited at the post office according to the law, whether the recipient collects the tax bill, or regardless of the collection date, the deposit date of the tax bill will be deemed the official delivery date. Consequently, the tax bill is deemed to have been legally served and the overdue charge cannot be waived.
The bureau reminds the public that if they see a delivery notice from the post office affixed to the door of their residence or the mailbox, it is imperative to collect the tax bill from the post office. If they fail to do so, since the tax bill deposited at the post office has been legally served, besides the additional overdue charge of 15%, tax bill not paid 30 days after the deadline will also be referred to Administrative Enforcement Branch Agency, Ministry of Justice for compulsory execution.
If you have any questions, please contact the bureau’s toll-free number 0800-086969 or 04-22585000#1 for the telephone customer service center, and our staff will be glad to assist you.
