To enhance service quality to taxpayers, the Local Tax Bureau of Taichung City Government will take the initiative to refund overpaid local taxes after deduction of any tax arrears (including local taxes and national taxes) from the past and notify the concerned taxpayers.

After deduction of tax arrears (if any), the Local Tax Bureau will write a check with the balance amount and send the check by double registered mail to a concerned taxpayer. It is important that the taxpayer must cash in the check within one year from the check issue date; otherwise, the taxpayer must ask the tax authority to re-issue another check with a different issue date, noted the Local Tax Bureau.
