Vehicle Inspection on Schedule to Avoid Penalties

For traffic safety, the Traffic Team of Police Department may crack down on those cars past the vehicle inspection period, whose license plate may have been revoked by the Motor Vehicles Office. A ticket may be issued to the car driver and the car or its license plate may be detained on the spot. Moreover, the car owner must pay the vehicle license plate tax for the period up to the date of violation being caught and be punished by a fine of no more than 2 times the vehicle license plate tax payable.

Local Tax Bureau reminds car owners to always have their cars inspected within the time limit specified on their vehicle registration cards. If a car owner does not receive a vehicle license plate tax bill for a long time, please check with the Motor Vehicles Office to see whether the car’s license plate has been revoked. If yes and the car owner wants to continue to use the car, he or she must have the car inspected again and its license plate re-applied. If he or she does not want to use the car any longer, the car must be reported to the Motor Vehicles Office as scraped. Never park it randomly.

If you still have any questions, please call toll-free service hotline 0800-086969 or 04-22585000 ext. 1 for the call center of Local Tax Bureau.
